Okay, so the general rules for the Mario Kart Wii Tournament are as follows: - Knockout Tournament (Each person will be randomly assigned an opponent, you race, winner stays in the tournament, loser leaves) - Best of 3 races (Each person chooses one map to race on, the final one will be randomly chosen by myself) - 1 v 1 races (Due to issues seen previously trying to get two people online at the same time, I feel this is necessary) - Finals will be best of 5 - Any number of entrants are possible, minimum of 4 - You may drop out if necessary, but please leave a message either in this topic, or send myself a pm - I will set a deadline date for sign-ups once 4 people have joined - I will also set deadlines for finishing races once the bracket is set up, if you fail to have you race within this limit, a winner will be chosen by the flip of the coin (unless one person is inactive and the other is active, in which case the active person will be selected) If you wish to take part, sign up here ^_^ I will also take suggestions on any additional rules, such as whether to set it to 150cc etc. though if there is no group decision, I'll just pick one myself (probably 150cc). I am setting no limitations on anything, as that feels...pointless? ![]() If you have any questions, ask here! Contestants: Fantanoice Alch3mist Logan18 Edited by Vincent, November 30, 2009, 7:20 am.

Eh, 1vs1 really doesn't work. :S It's stat-whore vs stat-whore in that instince, not skill+luck vs skill+luck. Maybe 1vs1vs1vs1 (4 players, 2 people with the highest points go through). That will probably even out the spread without making the items overkill. Then the final race can be 4 players, to determine who's first/second/third. :S ^ Though you'd probably need at least 8 people for this. All tracks should be random as well, to prevent giving anybody an advantage (particularly those in little vehicles always choosing SGB and N64SL, or people in large vehicles picking Rainbow Road.) Don't have 'best of 3 races'. Just do a Grand Prix and see who has the highest score out of the 4 races. It's easier to work out. AFAIK, you can't choose the weight of the race (150cc). I think it's random. Also, NO GLITCHES (Grumble Volcano/Mushroom Gorge/Bowser Castle/GBA Bowser's Castle 3). But I'm in. |

Like I said about the 4 way thing, from what I noticed of the last tournament, it took a while to get everyone to match up, as they had to work out a time they could be online at the same time, and trying to get 4 people to do the same is a bit silly. I chose best of 3 because of the fact that if it is random, someone will get the track that suits them really well, and it'll screw anyone else over. Hence allowing each person to pick a track seemed to work better in my opinion. Also, if luck becomes a major issue in one race, it doesn't finalise the outcome, whereas having one race where someone is really lucky would rather annoy certain people So in conclusion of this point - Random does not prevent advantages ![]() I'm not gonna lie, I've not played MK Wii much, so could you ellaborate on the glitches for me? (You can pm me if you don't want to tell people) And thanks for telling me that the weight thing is random. Makes life easier. As a note, I would personally prefer to do 1 v 1 v 1 v 1, but I seriously don't think its possible if there are gonna be 8 people in it. For the reason of what I said above. But as a side note, if I end up continuing doing this, I'd probably test it with either a 4 way or a team race in MK Wii, or something similar in halo/brawl (if people wanted to do that). But I did think about it xD |

You could do a team GP, though we'll need an even number for it to be fair (otherwise, one team will have an extra member). Also, if there's only 2 people, then it's not worth bothering with. ![]()
Lol, obviously, but you if you choose the track then it is possible (and more likely) to get your advantageous course chosen for perhaps every race. Random just seems more fair, because you have a chance to get a course you're good at as well as one that you may not be good at. As for the gliches, yeah, if you're in the upper rankings of the WiFi, you'll come across them A LOT. Here are the most abused ones: Etc... |

If I understand right (which I'm not entirely sure), thats why I had both players pick a track. That way, each person will pick their best track, potentially win it, and then I'll pick one randomly from the tracks that remain for them to do. Best of 3, and no one gets their best track twice, or unfairly (e.g. if it were one race only, and one person got their best track through the random selection). I understand that there's still the possibility of unfairness here, but it is less likely, and I'll try to be fair in my randoming (eeny meeny miney mo is always good). Mostly kidding on that last bit. I might just pick a generic track that everyone has to do. Hopefully that doesn't give anyone an advantage. If I miraculously find one. And that would be the last one of best of three. We shall see. |

Have you played online before? When both people pick a course, then it's 50/50. But if you mean, 'agreeing' on a course beforehand, then I'm all for that. ![]()
^ Lol. |
